I have tried this in two different scenarios: First a VMware Workstation 9 VM and a VirtualBox VM, both up to date on updates. The point of putting Windows 8 out here is to have more control with the Hyper-V Mgmt tools within the VM to manage my Hyper-V Server 2012 (the free one) environment rather than using the Hyper-V Mgmt tools on my Windows 7 workstation. I read somewhere that using the RSAT version from Windows 7 is stripped down for Hyper-V 2012 compared to using RSAT in Windows 8. Anyway, as soon as I built either VM, using NAT, I go to the Windows Updates window on the Desktop to download some 44 updates and install them.
Vmware Workstation 10 Windows 10
On both VMs, the box looks frozen/locked and it takes 20-30 minutes for the updates to show up to select them and then another 20-30 minutes after clicking install for the Installing animation to appear. While it's installing, the animation progress bar will freeze but eventually (about 30 minutes later), the window will refresh and tell me to reboot. After rebooting, the same thing occurs again. Now even though it's locked up, I can still use the VM; it's just that Windows Updates looks like it's frozen. Again, this is a new install, so there's nothing on here, not even an outside AV or any other apps. Any suggestions or is this known issue?
The tool works for RS232 and RS485 by allowing you to search for a single device or multiple slaves.
