The third and final installment in the National OVA series contains seven episodes spread across four DVDs released from April 25, 2008 to January 23, 2009. The OVAs are animated by Production I.G and, with the latter also handling the DVD distribution of the OVAs in Japan along with. Ryoma easily dominates the matches with the non-regulars. However, one of Ryoma’s opponents in Block D is Kaidoh Kaoru. The game begins with nothing unusual. However, Kaidoh soon uses a special move called the ‘Snake’.
This forces Ryoma to get serious and switch to his dominant hand. However, Kaidoh’s actual plan is to tire Ryoma out by making him run from line to line trying to return the shot.
It’s quite a surprise when Kaidoh actually ends up exhausting because Ryoma secretly is also tiring him out by shooting deep shots that make Kaidoh bend his knees. That, and Ryoma disgruntles Kaidoh by learning the Buggy Whip Shot, which is similar to the Snake. In the end, Ryoma wins the match. 6 その男, 越前南次郎 Nanjiroh Echizen November 14, 2001 August 21, 2006 Inoue and Shiba head off to visit Nanjiroh Echizen. However, when they reach him, Nanjiroh declares that he will only answer any questions if Inoue can get one point past him in a match. Unfortunately, no matter how hard Inoue tries, Nanjiroh is simply too experienced.
Still, he does state that Ryoma’s current tennis style is a copy of his and for Ryoma to improve, there is something he must do. Meanwhile, Ryoma is shown playing tennis identical to his father. 7 二人のリョーマ The Two Ryomas November 21, 2001 September 5, 2006 Ryoma’s match against Inui finally begins, and Ryoma needs to win in order to secure his position as regular.
Although Ryoma is playing fairly well, Inui can foresee all of his movements after collecting precise data, leaving the Seigaku freshman in a muddle. However, it seems Ryoma may have a plan up his sleeve. 8 スプリットステップ The Split Step November 28, 2001 September 18, 2006 Using a new move called the Split Step, Ryoma is able to react to Inui’s shots faster and returns them with such speed that Inui has a hard time hitting them back. However, it is not until the end when Ryoma does the Twist Serve that he takes full advantage of the match.
Also, the episode shows Ryoma playing with his father and getting utterly beaten, along with their father-son interaction. 9 ザハードデイ The Hard Day December 5, 2001 October 2, 2006 Once Ryoma beats Inui, his position as a regular is set.
However, Kaidoh takes the last remaining spot, kicking Inui off the regulars. Instead, Inui is responsible for the training sessions for the regulars.
Although the training he suggests is creative and helpful, the punishment for messing up is a full glass of Inui Juice, a rather horrible drink as the regulars soon discover! 10 逆襲!佐々部再び Counterattack! Sasabe Again?

The older man can return almost every shot that comes his way, but his weakness is that he stays at the baseline the entire time. Ryoma seems to be struggling in the match, but it turns out he simply wasn't playing properly because he considered the match 'warming up'.
However, they do not complete the match because Sasabe's father pulls a muscle as a result of not stretching first. 11 越前VS桃城 Ryoma vs. Momoshiro December 19, 2001 October 23, 2006 Momoshiro and Ryoma realize that they both want to be in a singles match for the district tournament. However, with only three singles spots and two already verified for Fuji and Tezuka, they learn that only one of them can earn the spot. Deciding to settle it between each other, they search for an open court to play in, but only end up finding a street court.

Kaido's Snake is thrown against Kamio but the latter is known for his speed demon technique. As a result of which, Kamio returns most of Kaido's shots. During the game a flashback to when Nanjirou Echizen was overcoming his weakness with the aid of his coach. 19 傷だらけのリョーマ Battle-Scarred Ryoma February 20, 2002 December 18, 2006 Ryoma Echizen gets injured during his grueling match and desperately searches for a way to win. During a series of intense matches marked by extreme angles, tough spins, and gutsy play, it start to look like the favorites will be taken down! 20 タイムリミット Time Limit February 27, 2002 December 26, 2006 Echizen has to finish his game against Shinji in 10 minutes, or else he will have to forfeit the game. Echizen is in a tough spot however with Shinji using his 'Spot' technique to numb Echizen's arm muscle for the split second Shinji needs to get the point.

Doubles 2 is Kisarazu and Yanagisawa against Kaido and Momoshiro, who won't stop fighting. It's time for Doubles 1, Oishi and Kikumaru vs Akazawa and Kaneda. Seigaku's golden pair has a hard time with Akazawa hitting balls that perturbe Kikumaru's vision.
Oishi responds with the Moon Volley, a lob with incredible accuracy, as it always lands right on the line. 32 必殺!英二の寝たフリ攻撃!? Mortal Blow: Eiji's Feigned Sleep Attack May 22, 2002 May 14, 2007 Oishi and Eiji use a new formation that makes use of their exceptional teamwork, but when Eiji runs out of energy, he resorts to regaining his stamina by standing still on the court. In order to give Eiji time to regain his strength, Oishi plays against both the St. Rudolph players by himself. Just when the other pair was about to win, Eiji recovers at match point and saves the ball just in time, thanking his teammate for covering for him.

He quickly runs into trouble due to Yuuta's tricky Rising shot, which is able to confuse Ryoma due to the ball's unusual motion, but eventually finds a way to counter it. As the match goes on, Yuuta's reasons for transferring to St. Rudolph from Seigaku is revealed. To prove his worth, Yuuta performs his Twist Spin shot. 35 ドライブB Drive B June 12, 2002 June 4, 2007 With his Rising shot and Twist Spin shot, Yuuta is able to dominate the match, but Ryoma continues to find a way to counter the combination. After he advises Yuuta to not use his Twist Spin shot anymore, Ryoma unveils his new move, Drive B, a technique that bounces in a B shape, to counter Yuta's technique.
With it, Ryoma is able to win the match. The ruthlessness of Mizuki is revealed as he is shown to be the one who taught Yuuta the Twist Spin shot, despite knowing that it can cause major damage to the user's arm. 36 兄, 不二周助 Big Brother, Syusuuke Fuji June 19, 2002 June 11, 2007 Angered by Mizuki's treatment of his younger brother, Fuji decides to teach him a lesson through tennis on the courts. Though Mizuki is confident in the data he has collected on Fuji, which seemingly goes according to his plan at first, the match ends with his complete defeat; Fuji had lost the first five games on purpose. While trying to teach the two girls tennis, however, Sakuno accidentally disrupts the practice of a school team. In order to help, Ryoma defeats the entire team, not knowing that they are one of Seigaku's next opponents, Ginka.
Unbeknownst to them, Yamabuki's Jin Akutsu, who was planning to beat Ginka himself, is observing the entire event. Penal-Tea July 3, 2002 June 25, 2007 Inui introduces a new health drink, Penal-Tea (Word Play of 'Penalty' and 'Tea') to club members who fail to do laps under 1 minute. Meanwhile, Jin Akutsu, a third year player from Yamabuki Middle School visits Seigaku's practice and attacks both Arai and Katou. Echizen intervenes when Katou gets attacked but Akutsu serves rocks, slightly injuring him in the process. Echizen and fellow club members follow Kawamura in which a meeting between a crying older lady and Akutsu.
